Council of the United States (SIECUS)
Sarah Grigsby-Reiser was the Public Policy Fellow at SIECUS, the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States, from August 2011 to January 2014. In that capacity, she advocated for sexual and reproductive health and rights, particularly for effective comprehensive sexuality education and evidence-based HIV-prevention strategies. She assisted with SIECUS’ federal policy work as well as with producing SIECUS’ annual State Profiles of sexuality education policies, and composed monthly Policy Updates on a variety of topics. Sarah is an active volunteer with the DC Rape Crisis Center, serving as a hotline counselor and backup supervisor, and hosting events. Sarah holds a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies degree, with a concentration in Social and Public Policy, and a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service degree, with a concentration in Latin American Studies, from Georgetown University. She lives in Washington, DC, with her husband, Joel, and 13-pound guard dog, Bailey.
Joel Reiser has over 25 years of experience in increasingly responsible positions in financial management and accounting. Mr. Reiser is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Earth Networks, Inc., an environmental data and analytics business, and is responsible for the accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, treasury and tax functions, and assists the executive team with evaluating opportunities and developing strategic initiatives. Previously, Mr. Reiser served as Chief Financial Officer of Smarthinking, an online tutoring company. In this capacity, he led the accounting, human resources and information technology groups and managed the sale of Smarthinking to Pearson Education in February 2011. Mr. Reiser also has held finance and accounting positions at companies including APCO Worldwide, Softek Storage Solutions Corporation and Landmark Systems Corporation. Mr. Reiser began his career at public accounting, where he spent eight years in the audit practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Mr. Reiser is a graduate of Georgetown University with a BS in Business Administration and of Duke University with an MBA.
