Ping Chen is a graduate of the Accelerated Six-Year Pre-Medicine/Medicine Program at Pennsylvania State University in cooperation with Jefferson Medical College. As a recipient of the United States Army Health Professions Scholarship, she served for four years at the Pentagon Army Health Clinic following her internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. She then completed her residency in Internal Medicine and her fellowship in Nephrology at Georgetown University Hospital.

She has since worked as a partner in private practice with Mid-Atlantic Nephrology Associates in various hospital and outpatient settings. She also maintains her connection with Georgetown as an alumni interviewer, the Community Service Chair of the Alumni Club of DC, and as a Georgetown Scholarship Program Chair.
